About Auburn Fire Division

Auburn Fire Department handles fire suppression, technical rescue, EMS response, hazardous-materials mitigation, and severe-weather response across the City of Auburn, Alabama, as well as the Auburn University campus. Crews work out of six stations under three rotating platoons (A, B, and C), each holding a minimum daily staffing of 25 personnel on 24-hour shifts followed by 48 hours off duty. In 2025 the department answered 7,802 calls for service, logged 30,500 hours of training, and completed more than 1,700 pre-fire building inspections and 3,800 hydrant checks.

The department pairs that suppression capacity with an active prevention program: Pre-Fire Plan inspections that familiarize crews with a building's layout and hazards before an emergency, fire drills at area schools and Auburn University dorms and fraternities, free smoke-detector installation for residents, and public fire-safety education events. In 2022 the Insurance Services Office rated the department a Class 2/2X.

Auburn also builds its own pipeline into the profession through a Student Firefighter Program, which lets full-time Auburn University students combine coursework with a 17-week recruit academy (EMT-Basic, Firefighter I and II) and paid shift work, feeding directly into future career-firefighter openings.

MissionThe Auburn Fire Department is committed to preserving life and property through focused training, intentional action, and unwavering support for our community.
