Department careers page ↗Montgomery Fire/Rescue serves Alabama's state capital, delivering all-hazards emergency response to the citizens of Montgomery. The department's largest component is a unified Suppression & EMS Division that integrates fire suppression and emergency medical services under a single command structure.
That division is built around roughly 15 engine companies, 6 ladder companies, 12 medic units, and 5 Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine companies operating out of stations spread across the city. Together those units respond to more than 5,000 fire suppression incidents and approximately 38,000 medical emergencies each year.
Beyond front-line response, the department is organized into supporting divisions including Training & Special Operations, Logistics, and Administrative Services, and it maintains a hazardous materials team. It also invests in the community through outreach such as a Citizens Academy.
Members receive continuous training across the full spectrum of the job, including fire attack, rescue operations, hazardous materials, advanced life support, and technical emergency skills.
