Department careers page ↗Theodore Dawes Fire Rescue (TDFR) began in 1968 as an all-volunteer company and has since grown into a combination department of paid and volunteer members serving one of Mobile County's most densely populated residential and commercial corridors. Operating out of the Theodore-Dawes Fire District, the department covers 38 square miles and responds to nearly 5,000 calls annually, ranging from structure and brush fires to vehicle accidents and life-threatening medical emergencies.
TDFR runs a working fleet that includes four engines, a 100-foot aerial ladder, brush trucks for wildland response, and dedicated command and rapid-response (Sprint) vehicles, reflecting a department built for both structural firefighting and rural/urban interface incidents.
