About Avondale Fire Medical

Avondale Fire & Medical is the fire and emergency medical services provider for the City of Avondale, Arizona, operating under the motto "Service Before Self" and describing itself as a Driven, Professional, and United organization. The department delivers emergency fire and medical response, advanced life support (ALS) services, fire prevention and code enforcement, and community education programs across a growing corridor of the West Phoenix metro area.

Operations run out of five fire stations plus a dedicated administrative building and training center. Station assignments reflect a range of specialized capabilities, including a Technical Rescue Team based at Station 173 (water rescue, confined space, mountain rescue, trench and structural collapse), a ladder company and low-acuity EMS unit at the newest station (175, built 2021), and wildland-capable brush and water tender apparatus at Station 171 that also deploys regionally to support large wildfire incidents. The department's ISO Public Protection Classification of 2/2X reflects a high standard of fire protection and emergency response readiness for residents and businesses.

Beyond emergency response, the department runs an active community education program, including station tours, a Ride Along program for residents 18 and older, a Citizen Academy, the FirePal program for preschool-through-third-grade fire safety education, car seat installation checks, and CPR/AED instruction. All Avondale fire stations are designated Safe Baby Havens under Arizona's Safe Haven Law.
