Department careers page ↗Verde Valley Fire District is a special taxing district formed on January 1, 2002, when voters merged the Verde Rural Fire District (established 1964) and the Cornville-Page Springs Fire District (established 1970) into a single agency. The consolidated district grew again on July 1, 2016, when it absorbed the Clarkdale Fire District, adding the Town of Clarkdale and the Yavapai-Apache Nation's Clarkdale Community to its coverage area.
Today VVFD covers about 104 square miles and roughly 21,300 residents from Cottonwood, Cornville, Clarkdale, Page Springs, and Verde Santa Fe, operating out of five fire stations. Its engines are cross-staffed with paramedics and EMTs, and beyond fire suppression the district runs technical rescue (auto extrication, swift water, rope, trench, and building collapse), hazardous materials first response, wildland firefighting, fire investigation, and public education programs including CPR/first aid classes and car-seat installation checks.
