About Jonesboro Fire Department

Jonesboro Fire Department is organized into four divisions -- Administration, Operations, Fire Prevention/Inspection/Investigation, and Training -- with 136 full-time personnel providing fire protection and life-safety services citywide. The Operations division runs three shifts on a 24-hours-on, 48-hours-off duty cycle out of seven stations spread across roughly 80-plus square miles, an area that also covers the campus of Arkansas State University.

The department's primary response fleet consists of seven pumpers, three aerial apparatus, and two battalion chief vehicles, backed by an as-needed fleet that includes a heavy rescue unit, a hazardous-materials vehicle with a dedicated haz-mat trailer, a tanker-pumper, two brush trucks, and two reserve pumpers. That mix of specialized apparatus supports technical rescue and hazardous-materials response in addition to standard structural firefighting.

The Fire Marshal's Office, a five-person team led by a Division Chief/Fire Marshal, handles code enforcement, fire investigation, plan review, and public safety education under the city's adopted 2021 Arkansas Fire Code. Property owners in Jonesboro benefit from the department's Class 1 ISO fire insurance rating, one of the highest classifications a department can achieve. Firefighter positions are administered under the City of Jonesboro's Civil Service Commission system.

MissionTo save lives, protect property, and serve our community as professionals with courage, commitment, and compassion.
