About Mountain Home Fire Department

Mountain Home Fire Department is a combination career/volunteer agency led by Fire Chief Kris Quick, operating out of two staffed stations and one reserve station to protect the city of Mountain Home and the surrounding Mountain Home Rural Fire District. A roster of 29 career firefighters, cross-trained as EMTs and split across three 24-hour shifts, is supplemented by an office manager and a group of paid-per-call volunteer firefighters who train alongside career crews twice a month and respond to calls both inside and outside city limits.

Beyond structural fire suppression and first-response EMS, the department fields a heavy rescue and confined-space/trench rescue trailer, giving it capability in auto extrication, confined space, trench, and high-angle rescue. Its ISO Class 3 rating (Class 4 within five miles of a station in the rural district) helps keep insurance costs down for residents and businesses. The department also runs an active fire-prevention program, including one of the only fire safety houses in the North Arkansas region, yearly commercial occupancy inspections, and free smoke detector installs and checks.

Call volume has held steady in recent years, with the department answering roughly 3,400-3,600 calls annually. Automatic aid agreements with several county departments — including Clarkridge, Buford, Northeast Lakeside, and Cotter Gassville Rural Fire District — support mutual water-shuttle and structure-fire response outside city limits.

MissionThe Fire Department strives to provide the citizens and visitors of Mountain Home with a quick and efficient response to calls for Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, and any situation that will minimize loss of life and/or property.
