Department careers page ↗Menlo Park Fire Protection District is an independent California special district governed by a five-member Board of Directors, with over a century of history serving the mid-Peninsula. The district covers roughly 30 square miles and about 90,000 residents across Menlo Park, Atherton, East Palo Alto, and nearby unincorporated San Mateo County, operating out of seven fire stations staffed by career firefighter-paramedics.
The district is organized into Operations, Support Services, Fire Prevention, and Administration divisions, and it sponsors California Task Force 3 (CA-TF3), one of the state's Urban Search and Rescue teams, giving it a technical-rescue mission beyond routine structural fire and EMS response. Each engine company is staffed with a Fire Captain, Fire Engineer, and Firefighter/Paramedic, reflecting the district's all-paramedic engine company model.
