Department careers page ↗The Victorville Fire Department traces its roots to July 1926, when the Victorville County Fire Protection District was formed; a volunteer department followed in 1930. The City of Victorville took over the fire protection district in 1976, and after a decade of contracting fire services to an outside provider, the City re-established its own municipal Fire Department in March 2019.
Today the department is budgeted for 59 sworn personnel operating out of five fire stations spread across Victorville. Its front-line fleet includes five medic engine companies, a medic aerial ladder truck company, medic squad units, and a battalion chief vehicle, giving every first-due unit an advanced life support (ALS) capability alongside standard fire suppression duties.
Victorville sits in the Victor Valley region of San Bernardino County at the southwestern edge of the Mojave Desert, and the department serves a city of roughly 134,810 residents across about 74 square miles of high-desert terrain.
