Department careers page ↗Jefferson-Como Fire Protection District (JCFPD) was established in 1960 as a Colorado Title 32 special district and today operates seven stations spread across Park County to cover 525 square miles of private, state, and federal land, including the busy US-285 mountain corridor and its seasonal visitor traffic.
The district is staffed as a combination department, blending 24/7 paid professional personnel with part-time and volunteer members. Members train in structural fire attack, apparatus operations, the Incident Command System, vehicle extrication, and wildland fire suppression, and all are certified as Colorado State Emergency Medical Responders at the EMT-Basic level, providing first-response EMS ahead of advanced life support transport delivered in partnership with South Park Ambulance under the medical direction of St. Anthony's Hospital.
Governance runs through an elected five-member Board of Directors, and the district's fleet of roughly 17 apparatus across its seven stations includes structural engines, brush/wildland trucks, water tenders, a rescue unit, and command vehicles, reflecting the mix of wildland-urban interface and structural risk the district covers.
MissionWe strive to provide compassionate, competent, professional fire suppression and emergency medical care to the community and citizens we serve.
