Department careers page ↗North Haven Fire Department protects the 21-square-mile Town of North Haven, Connecticut, covering roughly 25,000 residents (a daytime population near 32,000), about 9,500 households, and nearly 1,000 businesses, along with 133 lane miles of limited-access highway and 250 lane miles of town roads. The department operates from four stations — two staffed by career firefighters and two staffed by volunteers — including a headquarters at 11 Broadway that has been upgraded to a four-bay station and also houses fire inspection and investigation offices.
The department is a combination force, currently fielding 42 full-time firefighters alongside a volunteer corps that has shrunk considerably over the past 10-15 years (from 105+ down to roughly 20 active volunteers), leaving the department relying heavily on volunteers for incident response even as that pool declines. It provides fire suppression, emergency medical response, hazardous materials response, and other rescue services, and maintains mutual aid agreements with all surrounding towns. Leadership includes a Fire Chief who also serves as Fire Marshal, supported by Deputy Chiefs of Operations and Administration.
MissionThe North Haven Fire Department is dedicated to providing public safety services to our Citizens that result in an improved quality of life.
