Department careers page ↗Collier County Emergency Medical Services is the county government's EMS division, established by the Board of County Commissioners in 1981. It provides advanced life support transport across all of Collier County on Florida's southwest Gulf coast, including Naples, Marco Island, Everglades City, and the unincorporated communities of North Naples, East Naples, Golden Gate, Big Corkscrew, and Immokalee.
The system operates from about 25 stations spread across roughly 2,025 square miles, with 26 full-time ground transport ambulances plus two MedFlight helicopters staffed around the clock. That footprint spans dense coastal cities and remote inland and Everglades communities, so units are positioned strategically for fast response over long distances.
Call volume runs to more than 48,000 911 responses annually. New medics are tested through the county's own EMS/Fire Testing Center, and paramedics can earn credit toward starting pay for verifiable 911 or military medical experience.
Hiring runs through the Collier County careers portal (GovernmentJobs), with EMT and Paramedic openings posted as they become available. Candidates apply online, then invited applicants report to the Collier County EMS/Fire new-hire Testing Center for a hands-on scenario exam (a medical or trauma call) and an oral interview before a review board.
Applicants must bring original credentials to testing, including their EMT or Paramedic license/certificate, a Florida driver's license, and current, unexpired BLS/ACLS provider cards. Paramedics with verifiable 911 or military medical service can be placed higher on the pay scale, up to five years of experience credit.
