About Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department

The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department provides fire suppression and emergency medical services to the City of Coral Springs and, under contract, the neighboring City of Parkland in Broward County, Florida. It operates roughly eight stations across the two communities.

Every line firefighter is a dual-certified Firefighter/Paramedic, and the department transports patients with its own ambulance fleet. Its apparatus includes engines, a quint, ambulances, and a water tender.

The department carries an ISO Class 1 rating, the highest rating a department can earn for fire protection in the United States. Beyond day-to-day suppression and EMS, it maintains specialty rescue capabilities and contributes members to Florida's urban search-and-rescue task force.

MissionPreserve life and property through emergency medical services, fire suppression, risk reduction, public education, and community partnerships.

How to get hired

Coral Springs-Parkland hires certified Firefighter/Paramedics through an annual, date-driven process run on NeoGov/GovernmentJobs. Fourth-semester paramedics and candidates still finishing their Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance may apply, provided they complete their certifications by the posted deadlines. Applicants upload required certificates (driver's license, Firefighter Certificate of Compliance, EVOC, CPAT/EPAT/CSRIPS, and Paramedic license) with the online application.

The selection process moves quickly through a fixed schedule: a swim and practical skills assessment, oral board interviews, a CVSA exam and chief's interview, background investigation, and pre-employment medical and drug screening before a final offer and start date. Candidates must be able to meet every scheduled date exactly, as accommodations are not made.
