Seminole County Fire Department (SCFD) serves the communities of Seminole County in central Florida, delivering fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, community paramedicine, and 911 emergency communications. The department is administered from offices in Sanford.
SCFD employs more than 575 firefighters and personnel and operates its own nationally recognized Professional Testing Center. Its 44,000-square-foot training facility in Longwood, opened in 2007, sits on 20 acres and features a 5½-story training tower, a pressurized rail car, hazmat training aids, and confined-space training areas.
The department frames its work around a culture that "attracts and retains top talent," and it recently graduated a class of 18 probationary firefighters in January 2026.

SCFD hires Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics, but postings are opened as needed; at the time of writing there were no active firefighter listings. What certifications do I need to become a firefighter with Seminole County?
You must hold a Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance and a Florida EMT or Paramedic license, complete the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC), and pass the FireTEAM test (National Testing Network) and the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
