About Alpharetta Fire & Emergency Services

Alpharetta Fire & Emergency Services responds to fires, accidents, and medical emergencies to protect life and property, while also carrying out fire inspections, fire-prevention programs, station maintenance, and ongoing training for its personnel. A separate Fire Marshal's Office handles code compliance, plan review, permitting, inspections, and fire investigations for the city.

The department was formed in its current, independent structure on August 18, 2025, when Alpharetta City Council approved reorganizing public safety so that Police, Fire, and 911 Communications each operate as their own dedicated department rather than as divisions of a single Department of Public Safety. As part of that transition, Brad Denkinger, previously the agency's Fire Operations Chief, was named Fire Chief. The city says the new structure lets each department focus more closely on its own area of expertise while joint training, shared communications, and coordinated on-scene response continue across Police, Fire, and 911.

The department's community-facing programs include a Community Paramedicine effort and Community Risk Reduction/public education initiatives, and it is supported by Alpharetta Fire Corps, a volunteer organization that assists the department and the people who live, work, and visit Alpharetta.
