Department careers page ↗Bryan County Fire & Rescue, also referred to as Bryan County Emergency Services, is a combination department covering a fast-growing stretch of coastal Georgia along the I-95 corridor between Savannah and Richmond Hill. The department runs structural firefighting, EMS, hazardous materials, and technical rescue operations out of ten stations spread across more than 450 square miles.
A team of roughly 102 full-time firefighter/EMTs and paramedics works alongside trained community volunteers, responding around the clock, every day of the year, to structure fires, vehicle crashes, entrapments, hazardous materials incidents, and the medical calls that now make up the majority of the department's workload as the county's population has grown past 50,000.
The county's Public Protection Classification (ISO/PPC) improved to a 4/4X rating in recent years, reflecting investment in staffing, apparatus, and training. Department leadership has pointed to continued residential growth in the county as the driver behind ongoing efforts to add both career staff and equipment.

Why does a fire engine respond to my medical call?
Bryan County firefighters are cross-trained as medical first responders, EMTs, and paramedics, so sending the engine ensures a quick response with enough trained personnel and equipment on scene; crews can begin treatment before the ambulance arrives.
