About Catoosa County Fire Department

Catoosa County Fire Department is a combination career/volunteer department serving Catoosa County, Georgia from a network of nine fire stations spread across Ringgold, Rossville, and Fort Oglethorpe, including a dedicated volunteer/training station. Career crews staff local stations around the clock, while a separate volunteer firefighter program supplements coverage and receives paid membership in the Georgia State Firefighter's Association, insurance coverage, and free training in exchange for meeting participation standards.

The department runs a dedicated Training Center at Station 10 off Mack Smith Road, where personnel drill on live fire attack, water supply, rope rescue and high-angle/cliff rescue, vehicle extrication, firefighter survival, and EMS skills including coordination with air medical transport. Its apparatus fleet includes engines with 750- and 500-gallon tanks, two 105-foot ladder trucks, rescue and service units, and water-rescue boats stationed for the county's rivers and lakes.

The department is led by Fire Chief Daniel Walston alongside a command staff of deputy and assistant chiefs, with a Fire Marshal's Office handling inspections, investigations, and the county's Knox Box and burn permit programs. A Fire Explorer program and school-focused fire education efforts round out its community outreach.
