About Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services

Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services protects communities in the fast-growing northern Atlanta suburbs of Georgia. What began as an all-volunteer station in the Oak Grove community in 1973 grew into a paid department by 1976 and became a formal countywide fire district in 1997 after a voter referendum.

Today the department operates as a full-service, professional agency organized into the Office of the Fire Chief, Support Services, Field Operations, Personnel Services, and Community Risk Reduction. Field Operations responds around the clock, every day of the year.

Beyond fire suppression, Cherokee County provides full EMS transport to all county residents and visitors, running a fleet of 14 full-time ambulances plus additional day trucks and dedicated medical supervisors. The department also maintains specialized capabilities in technical rescue, hazardous materials, and water operations.
