About Gordon County Fire Rescue

Gordon County Fire-Rescue is funded primarily through an insurance premium tax and provides fire suppression, medical first response, fire prevention, and investigation services across unincorporated Gordon County. The department also holds contracts to cover the cities of Plainville, Resaca, Ranger, and Fairmount, and it runs mutual aid with the Calhoun Fire Department and neighboring counties and municipalities.

Staffing is a combination model: three stations are staffed with both career and paid per-call members, while seven additional stations are unmanned paid per-call houses. The fleet includes 11 engines, 3 tankers, and 8 rescue vehicles alongside other support apparatus.

Beyond structural firefighting, the department contributes personnel and equipment to the NW GA Joint Hazardous Materials Team and to Task Force 6 of the Georgia Search and Rescue teams, and it runs in-house training in medical first response, a basic firefighter course for paid per-call members, NIMS, annual hose testing, and required continuing education and ISO hours. Its fire prevention division also handles plan review, code enforcement, arson investigation, hydrant testing, pre-incident planning, and a smoke alarm installation program for residents.

MissionOur mission is to protect and serve the citizens and visitors of Gordon County by delivering professional and efficient fire, rescue, emergency medical, and prevention services, while educating our community and promoting safety every day.
