About Statesboro Fire Department

Statesboro Fire Department protects the City of Statesboro and, under a 1978 fire district agreement, a five-mile radius around the city in Bulloch County, Georgia. Organized as an all-volunteer company on September 28, 1905 after major fires destroyed downtown commercial buildings, it grew from 12 founding members into a full-time career department, adding paid staffing in 1960 and its first full-time chief in 1974.

The department operates from Station 1 (headquarters on West Grady Street) and Station 2 (on Fair Road), with a third station under construction after an October 2025 groundbreaking and completion anticipated in late summer 2026. Its fleet includes Pierce Enforcer PUC engines and aerial ladder apparatus.

Beyond fire suppression, the department runs a fire prevention and inspection division, extrication and thermal-imaging rescue operations, and a training center that serves multiple area public safety agencies.
