Department careers page ↗Troup County Fire Department is the fire and emergency medical services provider for Troup County, Georgia, headquartered at 2495 Hamilton Rd in LaGrange. The department is led by Interim Fire Chief Zachary D. Steele, who has served in that role, and as EMA Director, since 2025.
The department's Fire Marshal's office, led by Kevin Norred since 2014, handles fire prevention and works with the county's Community Development department to license and inspect new businesses and commercial development. The Fire Marshal's office also promotes the Georgia Arson Hotline as a way for the public to anonymously report suspected arson.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current valid driver's license (Georgia Class F license required for Firefighter/EMT)
- Firefighter: 1-2 years of experience preferred; ability to meet NFPA and Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act requirements
- Firefighter/EMT: 1-3 years of experience as a Firefighter/EMT required
- Firefighter/EMT: State of Georgia Basic EMT Certification required (Intermediate/Advanced preferred)
- Firefighter/EMT: Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council Certification required; NPQ Firefighter I & II, NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800, and NPQ Haz-Mat Technician preferred
- Ability to work under stress and meet physical requirements
