Watch this department to be notified when Anderson County Rural Fire Department is hiring.
Anderson County Fire District #1 protects a wide swath of rural east-central Kansas from a network of eight community fire stations located in Bush City, Colony, Garnett, Greeley, Harris, Kincaid/Lone Elm, Welda, and Westphalia. Rather than a single central firehouse, the district relies on this distributed footprint so that response coverage extends across the county's small towns and farmland.
Administratively, the district is coordinated out of the Anderson County Law Enforcement Center in Garnett. Beyond fire suppression, the district's mission also covers pre-hospital emergency medical response, and the county separately supports agricultural burn permitting through its Communications Center, reflecting the rural, land-management-heavy nature of the area it serves.
MissionThe mission of Anderson County Fire District #1 is to provide the citizens of Anderson County protection of their lives and property from adverse effects of fire and exposure to dangerous conditions created by either man or nature as well as pre-hospital medical care in an emergency. We will respond to emergencies in a professional and courteous manner and strive to reduce the rate of emergencies through education and prevention.
