About Henderson Fire Department

The Henderson Fire Department (HFD) provides emergency fire and medical services to the City of Henderson in western Kentucky, along with fire prevention, inspections, and public fire-safety education.

The department runs about 60 firefighters out of four stations within the city limits. Each shift fields a minimum of three engine companies, one ladder company, and one rescue company, and the department reports an average response time of under four minutes.

Beyond structure fires and medical runs, HFD is trained for a wide range of emergencies, including vehicle accidents, structural and trench collapse, high-angle rescue, hazardous materials, aircraft emergencies, water rescue and recovery, and bomb threats.

Training is a heavy emphasis: the department requires 160 annual training hours per firefighter (well above Kentucky's 100-hour standard) and logged over 10,000 training hours in 2025.
