About Hopkinsville Fire Department

Hopkinsville Fire Department (HFD) is the combination fire and EMS provider for the City of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, operating out of a headquarters station and three additional city stations, with a fifth station in development and a sixth, EMS-only station serving Oak Grove. The department runs its own ambulance service, including patient billing and a fee schedule for transports, alongside traditional fire suppression and prevention work.

HFD's mission emphasizes preserving life and property through fire prevention and suppression, rescue, emergency medical care, hazardous materials incident mitigation, and public education. The department is led by a Fire Chief/EMS Director supported by deputy chiefs over fire operations, EMS operations, and fire prevention, plus battalion chiefs and a fire marshal's office that also handles code enforcement and public information.

Community-facing programs include a Citizens Fire Academy, car seat inspections, smoke detector requests, burn permits, fireworks registration, and seasonal safety education (heat, winter, grilling, and fireworks safety), reflecting a department active in public education alongside its emergency response mission.

MissionThe Hopkinsville Fire Department strives to preserve the lives and property of our citizens and visitors through fire prevention and suppression, rescue, emergency medical care, Haz-Mat incident mitigation, and public education.
