Department careers page ↗Marrero Estelle Fire Department (MEVFD) serves the community of Marrero, Louisiana, responding to fires, medical emergencies, public safety incidents, disasters, and terrorist acts. Beyond emergency response, the department runs fire prevention, investigation, and public education initiatives, including the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal's "Operation Save A Life" smoke detector program and youth-focused emergency-preparedness games for kids.
The department is led by Fire Chief Daniel Danos and President/Assistant Chief Kevin Coleman, with a dedicated Fire Prevention division staffed by Vincent Alexie and Nick Abadie. MEVFD is actively recruiting firefighters, offering a 24-hours-on/48-hours-off schedule, no experience required, paid benefits, and annual raises for those who answer the call to serve Marrero and Estelle residents and visitors.
MissionThe mission of MEVFD is to minimize the loss of life and property resulting from fires, medical emergencies, and other disasters. As first responders to fires, public safety, medical emergencies, disasters, and terrorist acts, MEVFD protects the lives and property of Marrero Estelle residents and visitors. The Department advances public safety through fire prevention, investigation, and education programs. Our Mission is to provide a safe, professional, and courteous team that strives to exceed the community's expectations and our organization. This mission requires our members to be part of a capable, aggressive, all-risk fire department that focuses on "Preserving the Past and Protecting the Future" of those we serve.
MEVFD is hiring paid firefighters with no prior experience required. Applicants must be 18 or older, hold a valid Louisiana driver's license and a high school diploma or GED, and pass a background check plus physical, agility, and drug tests.
