The Everett Fire Department has served the City of Everett, Massachusetts for more than 150 years, providing fire suppression, emergency medical response, fire prevention, and a range of public safety services from three stations located throughout the city: the Central Station headquarters on Broadway, the Hancock Street station, and the Ferry Street station.
Led by Chief Joseph Hickey, the department fields three engine companies and two ladder companies, along with a hazardous materials unit, marine and boat assets, and an ATV for off-road access. In May 2023 the department launched its own Basic Life Support ambulance service, staffed by firefighter-EMTs, marking the city's first fire-based ambulance operation and expanding on-scene medical coordination alongside the fire suppression companies.
Beyond structural firefighting, Everett firefighters maintain specialized capabilities in technical rescue, dive rescue, boat operations, drone operations, and off-road response, coordinated through the department's special operations program. The Fire Prevention Office handles inspections, code enforcement, and permitting -- including administering the city's smoke-detector ordinance -- while a dedicated training and safety captain oversees ongoing member training.
MissionWe recognize that the community is the reason for our presence.
