About Tupelo Fire Department

The Tupelo Fire Department has protected Mississippi's Lee County seat since 1905, growing from its early roots into a career department of roughly 100 uniformed members working out of seven stations spread across the city. Firefighters rotate through three shifts on a 24-hour-on, 48-hour-off schedule, keeping four engine pumpers and three quints staffed around the clock, every day of the year.

TFD is an all-hazard department: beyond structure fires, crews respond to vehicle wrecks, medical emergencies, missing-person searches, hazardous-materials incidents, and technical rescues spanning rope, confined-space, trench, and swift-water operations. The department also fields one of the state's foremost hazmat teams and runs an active fire-education and prevention program through its Fire Marshal's Office, including home heating and candle-safety outreach for residents.

Department leadership is organized under the Fire Chief, with two Deputy Chiefs (Operations and Administration), three Battalion Chiefs, and two Fire Marshals overseeing day-to-day operations, training, and fire prevention across the city.
