Boles Fire Protection District was formed in 1971 through the merger of the Labadie Fire Department and the Gray Summit Fire Department, becoming the first tax-supported fire district in Franklin County, Missouri. What began with a three-person board, a single chief, and about 15 volunteer firefighters answering a handful of calls a year has grown into a full-service fire district covering roughly 70 square miles across the townships of Labadie, Villa Ridge, Gray Summit, and St. Albans.
Today the district operates as a combination department, governed by an elected three-person Board of Directors and led by a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal, with an Administrative Coordinator, 36 full-time firefighters, 22 reserve members, and a part-time mechanic on staff. Annual call volume has grown from a handful of alarms at founding to more than 2,000 emergency and non-emergency responses a year.
The district runs four stations across its service area, each carrying engines, tankers, and rescue apparatus, and backs its emergency response with community-facing programs including CPR training, car seat installation, fire extinguisher training, Community Risk Reduction outreach, a Fire Marshal's office handling permits and plan review, and CERT and Auxiliary volunteer programs.
MissionWe will provide emergency and non-emergency services as a result of fire, medical, rescue or hazardous materials incidents.
