Department careers page ↗Cedar Hill Fire Protection District protects roughly 16,000 residents across about 82 square miles of northwestern Jefferson County, Missouri, an area that mixes wooded terrain, farmland, subdivisions, businesses, schools, several lakes, and the Big River. Three stations — headquarters on Cedar Hill Road, a second station in Dittmer, and a third station on Byrnesville Road — are staffed around the clock, every day of the year.
The district's engines, tankers, and dedicated EMS/brush apparatus are supplemented by rescue boats based at headquarters, reflecting the department's role protecting the district's lakes and the Big River shoreline alongside more traditional structural and wildland calls. Cedar Hill crews also provide mutual aid to fire departments throughout Jefferson County and into neighboring Franklin and St. Louis counties.
Led by Fire Chief David Jones and Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Bob Tucker, the district periodically hires part-time firefighters and firefighter/EMTs, and requires candidates to hold Missouri Firefighter I & II and Hazardous Materials Operations certification.
