About Pacific Fire Protection District

Pacific Fire Protection District has protected Pacific, Missouri and the surrounding unincorporated communities of Robertsville and Catawissa since 1912, when it began as the all-volunteer Pacific Volunteer Fire Department. Missouri voters formally established the current Pacific Fire Protection District in 1973, and the agency has grown from horse-drawn equipment and a mill-whistle alarm into a modern career department led today by Fire Chief Steve Sagehorn.

The district covers 78 square miles across Franklin, Jefferson, and St. Louis counties and serves more than 10,000 residents along roughly 20 miles of the Meramec River. Because so much of its response area borders the river and other waterways, PFPD trains its firefighter/EMTs and paramedics in limited-water-access operations and keeps rescue boats staged at its engine houses for river rescues.

The district operates two engine houses — Station #1 on West Osage Street in Pacific, built in 1999 and home to the district's administrative offices, and Station #2 in Robertsville, built in 1981 and site of the department's 2016 training tower — running rescue pumpers, a tanker, brush/EMS units, and a 75-foot ladder truck.

MissionWe are committed to supporting our community and its organizations with sound fire prevention and public education opportunities.
