About Winfield Foley Fire Protection District

Winfield Foley Fire Protection District traces its roots to January 24, 1950, when a twelve-member board of community leaders organized the Winfield Foley Rural Fire District and purchased its first apparatus, a 1950 Chevrolet fire truck built by Central Fire Apparatus, funded by a voluntary $5 annual homeowner "tag" fee. As the district's population grew, it added a second station in Foley in 1975 and a third on Highway 47 West in 1982. In 1990, district voters approved converting the volunteer fire district into a tax-based political subdivision, the Winfield Foley Fire Protection District, establishing a dedicated tax rate to fund operations.

Today the district operates four stations, including a 2012 headquarters station on Highway 47 that houses the district offices, a training room, and a helipad, alongside stations in Foley and western Winfield. The district is staffed by highly trained volunteers who provide fire suppression, rescue, and medical emergency response, along with fire prevention, code enforcement and inspections, public education, smoke detector programs, and controlled burns for the communities it serves.

Missionto provide fire prevention services, emergency fire & related services, public education and community support to our citizens.
