Department careers page ↗Kernersville Fire Rescue Department (KFRD) serves the Town of Kernersville, North Carolina, in the Piedmont Triad region. The department runs from five strategically placed stations with a goal of reaching emergencies in four minutes or less.
The Operations Division is staffed by roughly 74 professionals working across three shifts and two battalions on rotating 24-hour schedules, with a Battalion Chief serving as Incident Commander on each shift and Captains leading each engine and truck company. Front-line resources include five engine companies and one truck/squad company.
KFRD is a multi-hazard agency, handling fire, emergency medical, rescue and hazardous-materials incidents. In 2023 the department responded to 4,702 incidents. Its work is organized into three divisions: Fire Administration, Fire Operations, and Fire Prevention.
MissionKFRD provides fire protection, hazardous condition mitigation, emergency medical response and rescue services to the people who live, work and visit in our community.
