About Mooresville Fire Department

Mooresville Fire-Rescue (MFR) protects the Town of Mooresville, a Lake Norman community of nearly 55,000 residents in North Carolina. The department runs six fire stations, from the North Main Street headquarters to a station covering the industrial corridor near the GoPro Motorplex racetrack, staffing four engine companies, two ladder companies, a rescue truck, and a rapid response vehicle, plus a dedicated training center.

Beyond fire suppression, MFR handles medical response, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescue, and fire prevention and education, with dedicated hazmat units and Fire Marshal staff based out of Station 2. In 2023 the department earned a consecutive Class 1 rating from the North Carolina Department of Insurance, placing it in the top tier of ISO-rated departments in the state.

MFR also runs community programs including the Citizens Fire Academy, the youth-focused Camp Blaze, and free smoke/CO detector installations for residents, alongside a long local history dating back to its early motorized-apparatus era, including a restored 1921 American LaFrance engine that still leads the annual Mooresville Christmas Parade.
