About Broken Arrow Fire Department

Founded in 1964 with five full-time firefighters and a single station, Broken Arrow Fire Department has grown alongside the city into the largest fire department in Oklahoma, now staffing seven stations with more than 170 personnel across 105 square miles. The department added ambulance service in January 1973 and today provides its own advanced life support (ALS) transport, holding a Class 1 ISO Public Protection Classification, the highest rating available.

Beyond structural firefighting, BAFD trains its own recruits through a 23-week Cadet Academy that builds toward Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Rope Rescue Technician, and Confined Space Technician certifications, giving the department in-house hazmat and technical-rescue capability alongside its EMS transport role. In 2024, crews answered more than 19,000 calls, with roughly 82 percent being requests for medical service.

Fire Chief Jeremy Moore leads the department, with Assistant Fire Chief Mark Steward and a team of deputy chiefs overseeing day-to-day operations across the growing city.
