About Enid Fire Department

Enid Fire Department traces its service to the community back to 1902, operating under the motto "Saving Lives & Property Since 1902." The department is organized into Suppression, Prevention and Inspection, and Training divisions, with the Suppression Division running three 24-hour shifts (A, B, and C) out of five fire stations. Station 1 serves as headquarters, quartering a command unit, three engines, a rescue unit, a hazardous materials unit, an aerial platform, and a wildland firefighting unit, and is commanded by two captains; the four sub-stations each house one engine and one wildland unit under a lieutenant.

Beyond emergency response, the department's Prevention and Inspection Division enforces the Life Safety Code and local building codes, investigates the cause and origin of complex or suspicious fires, runs a Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention program, and conducts home-safety inspections on request. The Training Division develops annual training schedules, maintains personnel training and health records, and uses the Fire Service Training Center at Autry Vo-Tech - which includes a skills building and live-burn structure - for drills and coursework through Oklahoma State University's Fire Service Training program and the National Fire Academy.

MissionThe mission of the Enid Fire Department is to save lives and protect property. This mission is divided into two major objectives. The first and foremost is the prevention of personal injury and the loss of life. The second objective is the protection of buildings and property. The Department fulfills these objectives through four separate but related operations: emergency response, fire prevention, education, and investigation.
