Department careers page ↗Gresham Fire Department is a career fire and EMS agency serving the city of Gresham along with contract communities in Fairview, Troutdale, Wood Village, and unincorporated Multnomah County. The department operates seven fire stations across the service area, including one shared with Portland Fire & Rescue, and runs a modern fleet that includes advanced life support (ALS) equipped apparatus and a tractor-drawn aerial.
GFD is led by Fire Chief Jeffrey Hairston and is IAFF-represented. The department continuously recruits both entry-level firefighter/EMTs and lateral firefighter/paramedics, with a defined testing and interview process and credit toward pay, PTO, and vacation/sick leave for experienced lateral hires.

Qualifying laterals can receive up to 48 months of credit toward pay and PTO placement, credit for vacation/sick leave, and an abbreviated Fire Academy.
