Department careers page ↗Jackson County Fire District 3 traces its roots to July 28, 1952, when it was formed as the Central Point Rural Fire Protection District. Today it operates as a special district under Oregon law (ORS Chapter 478), governed by a five-member elected Board of Directors, and serves the communities of Central Point, White City, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, Sams Valley, Dodge Bridge, and Agate Lake.
The district runs four career fire stations (two in Central Point, one each in White City and Eagle Point) plus four volunteer stations in the more rural communities of Gold Hill, Sams Valley, Dodge Bridge, and Agate Lake, staffed by a combination of 79 full-time employees and 17 volunteers. Its White City facility also houses a Regional Training Center, complete with a training tower, burn containers, and a simulation house used for both in-house and outside-agency instruction.
Beyond fire suppression and EMS response, the district emphasizes community risk reduction, wildfire preparedness and fuels-reduction work, and a Technical Rescue Team (TRT) trained in swift-water rescue, rope rescue, and extrication. It holds an ISO Class 2 rating and is supported by a general fund budget of roughly $27.1 million (FY 2025/26).
