Department careers page ↗Lancaster County Fire Rescue is the county-level organization that supports and coordinates fire and emergency services across Lancaster County, South Carolina. Rather than a single station, it ties together around 20 fire stations, most of them all-volunteer with a handful operating as combination paid/volunteer departments.
The county's career staff handles training, record keeping, vehicle maintenance, state and national incident reporting, and acts as the liaison between the individual departments, the Fire Commission, and county government. The goal is to make sure every asset and piece of equipment is used to its maximum effectiveness across the county.
Governance runs through a 19-member Fire Commission appointed by County Council, with each commissioner representing a district. Five standing committees cover operations, planning, apparatus, budget, and personnel.
