About Cookeville Fire Department

Cookeville Fire Department protects the City of Cookeville in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee. The department operates four fire stations and runs a three-shift schedule, with each shift staffed by 21 career firefighters, giving the city continuous 24-hour, 7-day coverage.

Crews respond to a broad range of emergencies, including structure fires, brush and rubbish fires, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents and vehicle fires, false alarms, and personal-injury calls where firefighters serve as first medical responders. Beyond emergency response, the department invests in fire prevention education, community risk reduction, and fire investigation programs aimed at reducing incidents before they happen.

The department is led by Fire Chief Benton Young and is headquartered at the Main Fire Hall at 45 East Broad Street in downtown Cookeville.
