About College Station Fire Department

College Station Fire Department is an internationally accredited agency (Commission on Fire Accreditation International) holding a Class 1 ISO Public Protection Classification, placing it among the top-rated departments in the country. Guided by the mission "Excellence through Service" and a vision to create a community free from preventable harm, CSFD operates six fire stations staffed by 174 professionals protecting more than 129,000 College Station residents, roughly 69,000 Texas A&M University students, Easterwood Airport, and neighboring communities through mutual aid with Bryan.

Beyond structural fire suppression, the department runs a full-service EMS program, hazardous materials response, aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) coverage for Easterwood Airport, wildland firefighting, and technical rescue capabilities. Firefighters also benefit from proximity to three world-class Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) training grounds — Brayton Fire Training Field, Disaster City®, and the Emergency Operations Training Center — giving CSFD crews unusually deep access to live-fire and disaster-response training close to home.

How to get hired

CSFD hires firefighters through the City of College Station's civil-service-style process, with tracks for non-certified applicants, EMT-Basic or Paramedic-only candidates, and already-certified Firefighter/EMTs or Firefighter/Paramedics. Candidates who are not yet certified attend the fire academy as part of onboarding, while credentialed applicants can move more directly into the department's ranks. All applications run exclusively through the City's governmentjobs.com portal, and CSFD encourages prospective candidates to sign up for job-interest email alerts since postings open intermittently.
