About Coppell Fire Department

Coppell Fire Department began in 1958 as a volunteer department and, over roughly 65 years, evolved into a fully paid professional department serving the City of Coppell. Today the department operates out of five fire stations distributed across the city, running three engine companies, three medic units, one quint, and one truck company to provide fire suppression, emergency medical response, fire prevention, and emergency management services.

The department is one of a small number nationally — fewer than 0.25% of U.S. fire departments, and only 186 nationwide — to hold a Class 1 ISO Public Protection Classification rating, a distinction it first earned in 2008 and has maintained since. Coppell Fire was also recognized with the Texas Fire Chiefs Association (TFCA) Best Practices designation in both 2014 and 2022.

Beyond emergency response, the department runs extensive community life-safety education through Life Safety Park, including CPR/AED courses, car seat inspections, station tours, and classes for schools and scouting groups, alongside fire prevention, permitting/inspections, and emergency management functions for the city.

MissionPreserve life, property and the environment through the efficient delivery of administrative activities, code enforcement, education, emergency response, prevention, and public service.
