About Corsicana Fire Department

Corsicana Fire Rescue traces its roots to December 29, 1879, when 25 volunteer merchants organized as Corsicana Hose Company #1 under first Chief J.J. Strupper, equipped with little more than buckets and ropes. The department professionalized over the following decades, adding horse-drawn steamers and hook-and-ladder equipment under Chief F.N. Drane in the 1890s, then transitioning to an all-paid staff in 1924 as steam engines gave way to motorized apparatus.

The modern department took shape in 1974 with the adoption of a three-platoon shift system (24 hours on, 48 hours off) operating from a central station and substations. Staffing grew substantially after 2002, when the department took on fire-based ambulance transport in addition to fire suppression, expanding from 38 members to a current staff of 69.

Today Corsicana Fire Rescue runs four fire stations and describes itself as an all-hazard department, covering fire response, EMS, technical rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, weather emergency response, and mutual aid coordination with volunteer departments across Navarro County. The city's fire protection was upgraded to an ISO Class 2 rating in 2016, placing it among the top tier of rated communities nationally.

MissionOur Mission is to maintain a continuous state of readiness to protect those we serve and to provide the highest quality of services when called upon.
