About Cy-Fair Fire Department

Cy-Fair Fire Department (CFFD) serves the Cypress-Fairbanks area of unincorporated Northwest Harris County, Texas, operating under Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9 (HCESD No. 9). The district is governed by a board of five commissioners elected to four-year terms.

The department traces its roots to the early 1960s: in 1961 the Fairbanks Fire Department charter was changed to create the Cypress-Fairbanks Volunteer Fire Department, adopting its current identity in 1962. Today it is a large combination department with more than 600 members and employees.

CFFD covers roughly 164 square miles from 13 strategically placed stations and handles over 26,000 emergency responses each year, the great majority of them EMS calls. Its fleet ranges from pumpers and ladder trucks to 13 ALS ambulances, rescue units, a wildland dozer, a high-water transporter, and boats for water rescue.

Beyond structural firefighting, the department provides ambulance transport and specialized response including wildland/grass fires, water rescue, confined space, and collapse operations.

MissionMake a positive impact through professionalism and dedication, in order to deliver a service that is second to none to the Cy-Fair Fire Department community we serve.
