Department careers page ↗Grapevine Fire Department traces its roots to 1884, making it one of the older municipal fire departments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The department is organized into five divisions — Administration, Prevention, Operations, Training, and Emergency Management — reflecting a full-service model that spans suppression, EMS, fire code enforcement, and public education.
Operationally, the department runs Paramedic Engine Companies, meaning line personnel are dual-trained in both fire suppression and emergency medical services; a station engine and an ambulance are dispatched together on medical calls to speed response. Coverage is split across five stations, with specialized capability layered on top of standard engine/quint companies: Station 1 supports dive operations, Station 2 staffs a rescue watercraft (the "Mustang") for operations on Grapevine Lake, and Station 4 staffs a dedicated rescue unit.
The department also runs an active community-facing program, including CPR classes, home fire and pool safety education, free blood-pressure checks at stations, and smoke alarm installation assistance for residents.
Grapevine Fire Department recruits firefighter and firefighter/paramedic personnel through a multi-step testing and background process. Candidates without a current opening can submit a Job Interest Card to be notified of future postings.

No. Residents are billed directly to insurance with zero patient responsibility. Non-residents are billed to insurance and may have patient responsibility for any unpaid balance.
Can I get my blood pressure checked at the fire station?
Yes, this service is offered free at all city fire stations.
Can I get insurance discounts for home fire sprinklers?
Texas law requires insurers to provide rate reductions for sprinkler installation; contact your insurance agent for specifics or call Fire Prevention at 817-410-4400.
Do you offer CPR classes?
Yes. Email grapevinecprclass@grapevinetexas.gov for the current class schedule.
