About Mckinney Fire Department

McKinney Fire Department protects the city of McKinney, Texas with 11 fire stations staffed by 224 certified Firefighter/EMT/Paramedics plus command staff. The department runs a mixed fleet of engines, trucks, medic units, and brush apparatus across its stations, and provides EMS transport alongside fire suppression.

Beyond routine structural response, the department maintains specialized capabilities: a Technical Rescue Team based out of Stations 1 and 5 handling rope/high-angle, swift water, trench, confined space, and heavy vehicle rescue; an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) crew at Station 4 near McKinney National Airport; and participation in the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), through which McKinney crews have deployed statewide and out of state, including assisting with California wildfires in 2019-2020.

The department also runs community-facing programs, including a Citizens Fire Academy, mobile healthcare/neighborhood outreach initiatives, and a Fire Museum, and has been recognized under the Texas Fire Chiefs Association Best Practices Recognition Program.
