About Mesquite Fire Department

Mesquite Fire Department protects the city of Mesquite, Texas from its headquarters at 1515 N. Galloway Ave. The department holds an ISO Class 1 rating, awarded in December 2006, a distinction held by fewer than 60 fire departments nationwide and representing the highest available level of fire-protection classification.

Every Mesquite Fire Department engine is staffed with at least one paramedic, giving first-arriving units the ability to provide advanced airway management and administer cardiac drugs alongside standard fire suppression duties. The department's Fire Marshal's Office handles inspections and code enforcement, and the department runs community-facing programs including a Citizens' Fire Academy, fire safety and prevention presentations, station tours and truck visits, and a smoke alarm assistance program. The Office of Emergency Management also falls under the department's umbrella.

The department is led by Fire Chief Keith Hopkins, supported by assistant chiefs over Operations and Special Services, battalion chiefs over Training, EMS, and the Fire Marshal's Office, and a captain-level staff covering public education, inspections, EMS, arson investigations, and training.

MissionWe will achieve EXCELLENCE in everything we do and treat everyone we encounter like FAMILY.
