About Prince George Fire, Ems, & Emergency Management

Prince George Fire, EMS, & Emergency Management operates as a combination system of 35 full-time personnel supported by five Volunteer Fire Companies and a system volunteer program, all coordinated through a central Administrative Office. The department covers 282 square miles of suburban and rural terrain bordered by the James and Appomattox rivers, and neighboring the cities of Hopewell, Petersburg, and Colonial Heights, Fort Gregg-Adams, and the counties of Sussex, Surry, Dinwiddie, and Chesterfield.

The department runs an all-hazards response model covering fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire safety and public education, emergency management, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue out of eight stations. Responders answer more than 5,100 calls for service each year in service of a population of over 42,880 residents.

The department's culture is captured in its own motto, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors," and a stated set of values -- honor, respect, accountability, integrity, trust, compassion, and quality customer service -- that guide how members are expected to treat each other and the community they serve.

MissionTo provide quality services through the dedication of our people.
