South Pierce Fire & Rescue (SPFR) has protected the South Pierce County communities of Eatonville, Roy, McKenna, Lacamas, Clear Lake, and Harts Lake since 1911. As a combination department, it blends career and volunteer firefighter-paramedics operating out of eight stations spread across a largely rural, 140-square-mile district.
The district responds to more than 3,000 calls a year, with roughly three-quarters of that volume being emergency medical calls rather than fire suppression. Beyond EMS and fire response, crews handle wildland fire response, technical rescue, fire prevention education, and CPR/first aid training for the community.
SPFR partners with neighboring Central Pierce Fire & Rescue to share equipment and administrative resources, and the district has favored refurbishing existing engines over new apparatus purchases to control costs as it manages aging facilities and rising service demand.
MissionServing the community with honor, integrity, and pride since 1911.
