Department careers page ↗Wenatchee Valley Fire Department is a Regional Fire Authority serving roughly 81,000 residents across Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Rock Island, Malaga, and surrounding parts of Chelan and Douglas counties in north-central Washington. The department covers about 211 square miles and answers over 6,200 emergency responses annually, averaging about 17 calls a day.
The department combines career and volunteer members, roughly 120 people in all, working from seven staffed fire stations and three volunteer stations. Its roots reach back to the 1895 City of Wenatchee Fire Department; the current authority was formed in 2022 through the merger of local city and county fire agencies.
Beyond fire suppression and EMS, WVFD provides water rescue, rope rescue, confined space rescue, hazardous materials response, and a full prevention program of inspections, investigations, and public education.

The department is a combination agency staffed by career, resident, and volunteer firefighters. Combat volunteer firefighters respond alongside career staff and receive the same training as career and resident personnel, while support volunteers help with teaching, administration, and technical tasks.
