Department careers page ↗Green Bay Metro Fire Department is a combination municipal fire and EMS agency headquartered at 100 N Jefferson Street in downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin. The department operates nine fire stations spread across its service area and is organized into an Emergency Medical Services division (which also handles ambulance billing), a Fire Marshal's Office responsible for inspections, code compliance, and fire investigations, and a Training Division.
The department's current footprint is the product of two municipal consolidations: it absorbed the Village of Allouez Fire Department in 2012 and the Village of Bellevue Fire Department in 2021, expanding from a single-city department into a regional "metro" agency serving three communities under one roof. Leadership includes a Fire Marshal's Office led by a Fire Marshal Captain and a Life Safety Educator who also serves as the department's public information officer.
Green Bay Metro also runs a Fire Cadet Program for teens ages 14-20 interested in exploring firefighting and paramedicine, alongside an internship track, giving the department a pipeline into its sworn ranks. Entry-level firefighter hiring is centralized through a third-party testing platform (Public Safety Answers) rather than a rolling walk-in application process.
